Exceptional Jean Muir dress made form yards and yards of inky black fine jersey that drapes and moves like nothing else. I often feel that Muir is one of the most overlooked designers that really made truly beautiful and outstanding pieces. And I think that is the case because she continually used a fairly basic palette and always kept to that sleek, forties inspired silhouette. Her line later was mass marketed and diffused beyond recognition so that did not help either. But once you discover her early pieces and how they fit and move I guarantee you will gobble them up and hunt endlessly for them! This one is fantastic with a long lean bodice that has a low dropped waist. It flares into a maxi length skirt that has tons of fabric in it. The sleeves are long as well and it has the unusual addition of long jersey ties at each shoulder. I have styled them a few different ways but you really can be creative with them! Her topstitching when finishing the seams in present and there are lots of hand finishes. Excellent condition!
