Natural White Buffalo material is mined in Nevada. White Buffalo is mined predominantly by the Otteson’s. Robert Ottesen owns the mine that produced this wonderful material. Lightning White Buffalo is named, as you can see, by the many lines of White running through the black matrix. Robert has mined Turquoise and White Buffalo his whole life and I purchase my rough directly from him. White Buffalo stone originates from the Tonopah Nevada area found in the same general veins as Dry Creek turquoise but has no copper content. The main mineral is Calcite. But depending on the crystalline structure of the Calcite, it morphs into minerals called Dolomite or Aragonite. With a high silica content, this stuff cuts incredible cabs. I realize Direct sunlight and white background is the worst possible conditions to photo in. I would rather have you say it looks so much better in hand then be disappointed when you get the stone.
