Travel diary: The Genius of an Era
Date: 26th of July 2013
Location: Florence, Italy
Excerpt: As soon as I arrived in Florence, I ran toward the museum of Leonardo Da Vinci, just as a child meeting her hero for the first time would do. I have always been fascinated by his studies of wings and all other inventions related to his obsession to fly such as the parachute, the wing trial, the hygrometer, etc. His mathematics and physics skills were not only applied in engineering but also in Art through his recurrent application of the golden ratio (a.k.a. the divine proportions).
To honor his memory, "Da Vinci"'s artwork depicts some of his flying inventions. It was produced according to the renaissance artistic style and the golden ratio principles.
